The Costa Brava
The Costa Brava is Catalunya's northern most region and undoubtedly the most beautiful, towering cliffs, beautiful beaches, medieval villages combine lush green countryside and the historic Catalan culture to make this a truly unique and magical location!
The region is seeped in culture with a rich agricultural and historic heritage. It is said that 30% of the best restaurants in Spain can be found here. Most catalan restaurants offer "menu del dia" - an ideal way to taste real catalan cooking for a very low cost. Three or four courses with water and wine are usually offered ranging from 7 - 20 euros.
Olot. Walking enthusiasts will find numerous opportunities to explore the beautiful coastal footpaths and there are excellent hill walks in the region.
Girona is the largest city in the province and has much to offer from shopping on the banks of the river with its colourful old apartment buildings flanking either side to sightseeing - the cathedral being first stop. Girona is linked via train and road to barcelona and has a now very busy international airport.
There's still nowhere to beat Spain for sun, sea and holiday fun. We believe the Costa Brava to be the best part of Spain, with its rugged coastline, glorious sandy beaches that go on for miles and almost perfect holiday weather.

Estartit
The Medes Isles are a group of small, protected isles situated a mile from the coast of L'Estartit. Famous in the world of diving, divers come from all over the world to dive here. The Medes Isles are home to thousands of species of fish and various species of birds. Regular glass bottom boat excursions go out to the Islands and there are many diving schools to choose from should you fancy a go at scuba diving or snorkelling!
The resort itself has a wide range of shops, bars, restaurants and entertainments to suit all ages and tastes. For a more traditional Catalan feel, the church square down to the harbour offers a variety of bars & restaurants offering local cuisine and tapas. With many many festivals held throughout the year in Catalunya you will find the local dance of the "Sardanes" a regular feature in the church square. firework displays, parades, live music and much more are also regular features throughout the summer calender. Within easy driving distance of L'Estartit you will find 10 championship golf courses. Other activities available include: horse riding, diving, microlight flying, parachute jumping, paintballing, kayaking, hiking, cycling, sailing etc. All activities can be booked in advance via our Spain office. Water sports
The Costa Brava is taylor made for people of all standards of Diving, from very beginning to the extreme divers who wish to discover every nock and crany of the sea! Estartit is the dive centre of this area and with a great choice of dive centers you will have a great opportunity to see the marine like close up.

Snorkelling
One of the most popular excursions we provide is the famous snorknelling tripleaving the port to go out to the medes Islands. The trip lasts around 2 hours and you will get the chance to snorknell with trained experienced divers to get close to the marine life and see the fantastic views of the coast line of L’Estartit
Water Parks
Water Parks are a great day out for the family. We have 2 parks within a 45 minutes drive from L’Etsartit
Aqua Diver is a great park which has had new rides installed in 2007, plus you can go and visit the town, Playa D’Aro, where you will finf some of the best shops in the area, though be warned a lot of these are design shops so credit cards are essential!!
Aqua Brava is the bigger of the 2, with slides, pools and climbimg pool rocks there is planty for the whole family to do here. There is also a free bus service to this park every day from L’Estartit from June until September.
Horse riding
With many tracks and hidden path ways, to be led by a guide on your horse you will have a great couple of hours seeing places and sights that the normal tourist would not normally see!
At the office we can phone and book a time for you, though we normally advise to go in the afternoon when the sun is setting as is the coolest time of the day to be horse riding in the countryside!
Cycling
Cycling is one of the biggest sports in Spain, and every Sunday you will come across a group of cyclists taking up half the road dress as if they were ready to join in the Tour De France, but these are typical cycle clubs of the Catalunya! Traveling by bicycle is remarkable in this area for its archeological importance as there are such places to visit such as the famous ruins of Empuries and the ancient Iberian settlement of Ullastret. Other important towns such as La Bisbal d'Emporda with its castle and ceramic tradition and Peretelada are great routes from Estartit.
Walking
Unlike a lot of coast resorts Estartit is blessed with fabulous walking routes ranging from gentle coast walks to tough routes into the country side and into the mountain side.
Golf
With in a 15 minute drive from all our accommodation in L’Estartit there are 3 fantastic Golf courses. The Empordà Golf course offers a total of 36 holes, divided into two separate 18-hole courses: Links and Forest. The course was designed by Robert von Hagge, who chose to integrate a links-style course with two large lakes, dunes and rolling bunkers into a classic Mediterranean landscape replete with dense, manicured pine stands and spacious fairways. To this end, he was able to take full advantage of the natural beauty of the setting itself: stunning El Baix Empordà in the heart of the Costa Brava region.
We also have the Golf course Serres De Pals which is only a 15/20 minute drive from L’Estartit. The course, designed by Ramón Espinosa, has three different areas with smooth hills, pine woods and lanes among lakes. Surrounded by marvelous landscapes from the Baix Empordà, this 18 holes course, par 72 and 6.263 metres of length, joints the best conditions to play golf and to enjoy the mild Mediterranean weather.
Thirdly we have the course Platja de Pals. Located on the farmland of Arenals de Mar, on dunes covered by an immense pine forest planted seventy years ago, Golf Platja de Pals was an idea created at the beginning of the seventies by Baltasar Parera Vilar and his wife Doña Rosa Coll Llach, who provided the land necessary as well as the construction of the first nine holes and the clubhouse, as well as the necessary maintenance equipment.
Although the magazine Destino, in its February edition of 1961, published the first sketches of the future golf course, work did not start until 1964, under the management of the English architect Mr. Fred Hawtree, who from the very beginning worked closely with the plans of the Parera-Coll family. The promoters displayed a marked respect for the environment, up to the point where they did not allow a single pine tree to be felled unless it had been marked beforehand.

Barcelona
When you are here in L’Estartit, you are only 1hr30min from Barcelona, so why not take an excursion to visit this exciting city. You can travel by car, you will be able to get the best directions from the office in L’Estartit or you can get tickets here aswell to travel by coach to Barcelona for a daytime excursion or try a night time excursion! For the daytime excursion you will leave the resort by coach at around 8am and then travel down to Barcelona with a guide , who will speak English, to Barcelona visiting the Sagarda De Familia, the Olimpic stadium with a stop to take in the impressive panoramic views of the city, you will have some free time to do some shopping at the Placa De Catulunya and then on to Barcelonas most famous Football stadium ‘Nou Camp’ the home of Barcelona FC. You will have time here to visit the museum and take photos around the stadium, returning to L’Estartit around 8pm.
There are different excursions suited to your choice but we do recommend the evening excursion where you leave later in the day and have a chance to watch the magic fountains at the foot of the royal palace, including in this excursion is also the football tour and the visit to the Sagarda De Famlia, you will return around midnight on this excursion.

Dare your self to go Quad biking or if you like 4 wheels go in a ‘Buggy’. Travel with a guide around some of the unknown tracks of Catalunya, visiting small villages on the way and taking in some breathtaking views from up in the hill side!
