Busy busy busy! Summer is definitely is full swing now. Sunshine every day, temperatures easily in the 30s, not a drop of rain in sight, forecast good, and the pool at Mar D'Or looks sssssso inviting!!! Cheers to Cecilio and Loli who really do a magnificent job keeping this great complex in tip top condition!
Plenty of activities going on in Estartit this weekend as yesterday was Santa Anna - the patron saint of the village, with processsions, catalan dancing and a band playing on the beach. Once again there were handicraft stalls along the promenade and part of the beach is taken up with the travelling fair which arrives every year and stays for a couple of days.
Friday night was a special for me ....... went to the botannical gardens in Calella to see good old George Benson. The setting is magical ...... an old castle built in the 1920s by a Russian count for his English lady and now restored by one of the bank foundations. The botannical gardens are lovely and provide a great back drop for these events. Cava and bits are served in the gardens beforehand, then the open air concert under the stars with the view of Calella beach in the distance with the little boats bobbing up and down. This really makes for a special night out in the summer!

Summer now in full swing and lots of activities going on in ESTARTIT. For those who like to start the day with some gentle exercise, there is nothing better at this time of the year, than an early morning stroll down the beach, feet in water, face to sun! Or for those with a bit more energy, join the free Pilates class at 8.30 a.m. every morning on the beach or if evening exercise is more your style, try the free aerobic classes on the beach between 8 - 9 p.m. followed by a quick dip in the sea! Beats the gym any day!
For the younger members, there is now a mini beach club each day on the beach. Three hours of activities morning or afternoon for a mere €2, allowing Mum and Dad a bit of me-time to sunbathe in peace!
Worth a mention, is the huge effort the town hall are making this weekend to support the fight against MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS. On Sunday, down by the port, there will be a stall selling towels, T.Shirts, caps etc to support this worthy cause, plus water activities and fun for young and old alike. There will also be a sponsered swim from the small beach. The town hall has a sponser who will pay so much for every meter swum by volunteers. All in a good cause and loads of fun!
Talking about good causes and fun, Andrea's web page is up and running for the 3rd ESTARTIT WALK FOR LIFE on Sunday 19th September in aid of Cancer Research UK and the Catalan Cancer Research Group. See www.walkforlifecostabrava.com Having done the previous two walks myself, I can vouch that this is a really fun day. Last year we marched off from the harbour to the tune of "Here come the girls"!!!!!!!! At KINGS we are collaborating by offering SPECIAL OFFER APARTMENTS for anyone wishing to participate. This year I am walking for anyone and everyone who has been touched by cancer. So ..... if you can't make it here that weekend ..... you can always sponser me on Justgiving.com. I am Julie@Kings !

Remember the week end of the 17th July its Beatle mania!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You'll love it ye ye ye y ye You'll love it ye ye ye ye.......sorry I couldn't resist that pun!

San Juan in Estartit

Wednesday night was the eve of San Juan. The town becomes alive with the children having started their school holidays on Tuesday, and lots of Barcelonines enjoying their long bank holiday weekend. The official fireworks are at 11 p.m. but the children just cannot resist letting off their little bangers all day long! This year, despite cutbacks, the display was still impressive, followed by the lighting of the huge bonfire on the beach, then dancing til the early hours. I was very fortunate to view it all from a very priveledged viewpoint in a friends house on the hillside, great for me as I am actually terrified of fireworks but really love the typical Coca of San Juan (a delicious bready concoction covered in custard cream and decorated with glaceed fruits) which has to be washed down with lots of lovely cava!
On Thursday which was fiesta here in Spain, there were fishermen singing sea shanties down by the harbour with a huge pan of cremat (coffee and rum which is set alight) for all. All along the sea front, there were handicraft stalls, which always add to the atmosphere.
Those lovely balmy summer evenings are here to stay now. Nothing nicer than eating your evening meal outside on the terrace or in the garden!
Sunday is market day in the neighbouring town of La Escala. The market is held along the sea front, so when you tire of looking at the market stalls, you can people watch ....... lots of people on the tiny beaches that are dotted along the coast line in La Escala, or sailing, or learning to water-ski (always one of the best to watch!). Despite the usual market tack, there are still bargains to be found. I got a lovely pair of soft leather mocasins for only €15. I met there, some clients, really lovely couple from that country that Matt doesn't want to hear mentioned today!!!!! They had driven here by car, bringing their bikes, and using Estartit as a base, each day cycle around the countryside, enjoying the newly tarmacced roads. After an hour or so, my husband declared he had had enough of sun (it was 29 degrees!) and market and it was time to head down to the bar facing the small beach and order a canya ( little beer served ice cold) and a tapa of olives, which then led to a tapa of serrano ham and fried calamares and hey presto ....... lunch was served! All part of the laid back Spanish lifestyle!!!!!!!

Good morning and welcome to our lastest edition. Last week saw another fiesta 'Catifes de Corpus` This is where down the main shopping street, the Santa Ana, all the shop owners decorate the street with coloured pieces of wood and to make flowers and other designs. There was a small market down the harbour selling things like jams, cheese and of course local wines. The weather held out until about 11 then the heavens opened but luckily the weather turned for the better and we finally had the afternoon on the beach!
Next week end of course is the start of the World Cup so all the bars and resturants have invested in the biggest Tvs known to man, probably to out do each other!
England game is being shown in all bars this week end, even on the beach, so if you are here get along to Havana or Harveys Bar to watch or if you fancy having a bit of a crazy one YCs or Rockafellas is the place you will want to be!
Have a great week end and COME ON ENGLAND!

Good morning and welcome to June! where is the time going? and at long last Sterling against the Euro is finally going up..last saw this morning 1.19!!yippppeeee
Last week end saw the Rally Cirucs come to Torroella De Montgri, this circus is one of the oldest in Catalonia dating back to 1936, they use all the orginal trailers and the whole show is very 1950's with a clown, no animals and various acts such as comical acrobats and a strong man who picks up men and women, the circus owner has the pointy moustache and top hat. A magical evening and only cost 3 Euros for the kids and 8 Euros for the adults. Here are some photos to give you the idea, couple of posers in the way of my 2 daughters!!!
I visited the the Havana beach bar yesterday and the owner informed me that he will be showing all World Cup games this year as he has invested in a big flat screen so now you will not have to waste any time in coming off the beach to watch the footie this summer, you can just visit Paul and Daryl at Havanas and watch it there.
Remember if you have booked with us this year ask about the special offers we have for September.

Good morning, the photos that I have put on this morning is what I have been up to this week end! Port Adventura!!!! Only 2 and a half hours away from L'Estartit and really worth it. I would not recommend this in the July or August months but apart from these months its a great day out, as I think it might be too busy and hot.
It has been a bank holiday here on Monday so Barcelona was on holidays making the park very full, though the queques were not that bad, and I would advise to buy an express pass as this was a great help in beating the long waiting times. I managed to go on the Dragon Khan which was hurrendous then I was talked into going on Hurakan Condor which was worst than the Dragon Khan as you go up 100 meters and then without warning get dropped to the ground at God only knows what speed and arrive back to where you were minutes before, I still cannot see the fun in this???. The whole dropping experience lasted a matter of seconds, though it felt like I was dropping to my death for around 5 minutes! The dragon Khan allows you to panic whilst you are going up for about 4 minutes before you thunder ground wards at around 120 KMH to then decide to throw you about twists, turns and loop the loops for a further few minutes....the guy I was with seemed to be an expert as he videoed the 'amazing experience' for me, very thoughtful I thought, and even has very nicely decided to put this on 'you tube' for me so I will put the link on when this has been done!classic fear all the way!
Having the kids with me I had to do the Alfa male stuff but taking them all to the shows really was fantastic for everyone, from Chinese bubble show to the wild west it was superbly run and all the kids never seemed bored. Even having meals they seemed to entertain us with western country music bands playing or in 'La cantina' a Mexican music show.
Overall a top couple of days, totally exhausting but worth the pain.
Back to L'Estartit and the weather is hot hot hot and can think of worst places to come to work. The town is slowly getting into gear as there seem to be more and more tourist by the day. Just a though if you are over in June, make sure you have a visit to the Boot fair in front of Harveys, great atmosphere and plus Joe in Harveys is starting serve ice cold beers ¡on the terrace and has special meals of the day to choose from.
Thats all for now until next time.

LATEST NEWS.......ITS OPEN..... HAVANA BEACH BAR!!!!!Summer is offically here!!!

A very definite improvement in the weather today. That sunshine and lovely blue sky really do make all the difference!
Yesterday I did one of my favourite walks in the off season period. We drove from Estartit to Palafrugell to the Sunday market, and wandered around there for a while, buying some fresh fish and lovely vegetables. Then on to Tamariu, having a coffee on the sea front, watching a few children flying a kite on the pebbly beach. Driving over the mountain road, direction Llafranch, you arrive at the Light House of San Sebastian. The view from here is magnificent and well worth stopping for. Then we went on down to Llafranch, parked the car, and walked along the "cami de ronda" the costal walkway, towards Calella. Again the view is breathtaking and the water such a beautiful shade of blue ..... it really is something that never fails to impress! The walk takes about half an hour, depending on how many times you stop to admire the view. Then sitting on the edge of the beach in Calella, listening to the waves lapping, and enjoying a welcoming ice cold beer and a few tapas ...... heaven!! This is the real Costa Brava!
Important news for all ladies visiting in September. The 3rd Walk for Life will take place in Estartit on Sunday 19th September, organized by our very own Andrea, and Emma. Apart from being a fun day for all, this is for a very worthy cause ..... to raise funds for cancer research in England and Catalunia. If you wish to take part, e.mail us at Kings for more information, or look on the Walk for Life Estartit website www.walkforlifecostabrava.com
In support of the walk, at Kings we are offering special rates for that weekend, so check out Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) for cheap fights and contact us at info@kingspropertymanagement, stating that you wish to participate in the Walk For Life. All in a good cause, and a good excuse for a short break!!!!

Good morning, Just for regular readers we are pleased to introduce Julie the 'new girl' to the happy team of Kings!
Julie says....Although new to the job, I have known Mat and Andrea for quite some time and have lived in Estartit for over 30 years, so am very happy to be adding my local knowledge and experience to the team here at Kings.
This weekend saw the celebration of European Day, held on Sunday in Roberts restaurant, L'Estartit. A welcome glass of cava gets guests into the spirit of the event, and stalls selling cakes, books etc plus a band all add to the atmosphere of the garden area at Roberts!
We are all avidly following the trail of the volcanic ash. Gerona airport was closed on Saturday, but today only flights to Madrid and the Canaries are affected. Fingers crossed that we escape the problem! Looking at the beautiful blue skies and sunshine we are having today, its hard to imagine just what is going on up there!
The sunshine always brings out the people and Estartit is a hive of activity with more bars, restaurants and shops opening daily, getting ready for the season to begin. Excursions start this week with a mid week trip to Barcelona ...... a magical city well worth a visit as there is something for everyone from the amazing Gaudi architecture for those interested in a touch of culture, to the wonderful range of shops for those more interested in some retail therapy.
